Winter layers… We all start the Winter season i Winter layers…

We all start the Winter season inspired!
The holidays, with all the twinkle lights and sparkle, get us excited and it’s easy to overspend on all the new products coming across our screens!

I’m a collector (and I’m OLD) so that means i already have A LOT of stuff. I look at any holiday/winter decor purchases as long term, so I choose only a few pieces that I know I’ll look forward to unboxing year after year. With both of my twins coming home for Christmas, I wanted our holiday dinners to be a little extra special.

This season, I decided to add a cozy throw to each of our Dining Room chairs (a pillow is too big, but a throw adds just the right amount of cushion and warmth!)

At @westontable I always find the most special, curated collection of home decor.
Their Antique Hunting Stewart throws made our dining chairs so comfy and inviting! (And, I couldnt help but add the Charvet Editions Rythmo Rouge Linen Napkins to the table top!) I loved how these classic pieces worked beautifully with all the stuff I already had, yet brought that extra “something” to our holiday table!

We loved them so much, I decided to leave the throws on the chairs for the whole season!
(And, we know there’s at least 6 more weeks of winter.🦫 Check my stories to see today’s weather💨)

Here you can see my holidays layers (which I don’t think I really shared!) and then, how I pared back for a simple winter look.

(I posted the throws in my stories yesterday and they sold out—I’m happy to tell you they’ve been restocked! I’ve added the link in my bio, and I’ll add one in stories too!)

Old Friend, New Heart… My friend Deb has been s Old Friend, New Heart…

My friend Deb has been sewing for me for years. She never backs down from a crazy idea I might have, and she always finds a way to add just the right unexpected detail.

I was inspired by all the amazing woolens that I saw in Europe when I was there last month. I came home wanting to add beautiful layers to my bedroom so I went right to the best source- @johnstonsofelgininteriors has been producing the very best Scottish woolens for centuries.

I imagined a beautiful reversible throw, that stretched across my whole bed (not half😑). I wanted to work with multiple patterns for texture, color and impact.

My friend Deb delivered! Swipe to see the beautiful throw she made (fringe and all!) and with a little extra fabric, she surprised me with a heart throw pillow!

And-Swipe to see how this little extra layer made our bedroom just the right amount of cozy for winter, and to see the ever-changing winter light in this room.✨

From @johnstonsofelgininteriors I used:

Strath Carbon, color Umber (the Plaid)
Conon, color Straw (the Herringbone)
Kintore, color Lovat (the square pillow on my chaise)

While We Wait… Once the holidays are over, Wint While We Wait…

Once the holidays are over, Winter is long (and raw!) on the Cape. So, I’m just passing winter right here.

My kids call our library The Lair.

As soon as the weather gets cool I cozy it up with toasty fires and a layer of sheepskins. Nothing makes this room more inviting!
(And, these are the very best! from @overlandsheepskin ,color is Taupe!)

Swipe through for a few more pics, and to enjoy my fire with me. (I’ve added a closer view of the Taupe sheepskin.)

When we dismantled the old cottage that was here, we made sure to save the original fireplace. I’ve added a couple of before shots so you can see how far we’ve come!
