It’s Summer on the Cape!

Regrets and No Regrets… We made a lot of mistak Regrets and No Regrets…

We made a lot of mistakes when we were building this house…and we did a few things right. I’m gearing up for a few fixes this season and as I do, I’m looking around and focusing on some of the things that have stood the test of time. That, after twenty years, I still love.
So tonight, I’m sharing my entryway transoms.

We wanted an open-ish floorplan so the rooms and wide hallways would flow but as we were building it was feeling almost too open.

I decided that the entry hall needed quiet boundaries.
It started with the vintage one over our library entry-I bought it years before we built, hoping to incorporate it when we did. Once we installed it I loved the twinkle the leaded glass brought to the entry so I wanted to finish all the surrounding openings with something similar.

I measured and drew sketches and had a local stained glass artist make the new leaded windows for me. I worked with my carpenter to install and build out the trimwork.

I love, to this day, that they created instant intimacy for each area (almost like a whisper!) and they allow all the natural light to flow through the rooms.
They brought so much personality into our entry hall!

Over the next few posts, I’ll share some more things that we did and still love✨

Spring Cleaning…

Spring is here, and I couldn’t be happier to strip away the flannels, wash winter off my windows, and let in some fresh air!

I start spring cleaning with my guest room because it’s officially company season!

(I had a little help from Sparrow, who is always in the middle of my projects!)

I use linen and cotton bedding from spring through summer and I don’t iron the sheets, but I like to press and steam here and there to highlight pretty details and make things crisp and fresh! I just got the Rowenta Compact Steam Pro from @rowentausa and it made the job easy!

Its lightweight and easy to carry from room to room.
With the ability to steam and press on the spot I couldn’t be happier. Today Im sharing some of my favorite details in this room!

Even though our weather hasn’t caught up to the season, I’m ready for spring!

When my guests visit they want to feel like they are on Cape Cod. That’s why all the little details matter!

Welcome Spring and thank you Rowenta!
(I’ve linked the Rowenta Steam Pro in my bio!)

February, so far… Winter light, lots of time lo February, so far…

Winter light, lots of time looking out the (dirty) windows, and a few, subtle nods to Valentine’s Day.

I love hearts, my mom was a Valentine’s baby, every year I gave her a heart of some sort.
Happy Valentine’s Day!❤️
