Ode to the Little House…

There was an old Folk Victorian cottage here when we bought our property. We hated tearing it down but it was in bad shape. We designed this part of the new build to pay homage.

So many people ask if this is a separate house. It’s not!
It’s our family room (with a passage in from the kitchen.) And most of the stones we used to build the fireplace came from the property. There’s a side entry and our powder room.

Fall, So Far… We have had the most beautiful st

Fall, So Far…

We have had the most beautiful start to October on the Cape. Today’s rain and wind reminded me that we will be wrapping up Deck-Season soon. Tonight, I’m sharing some of my favorite fall moments, so far.

1: Watching the transition to fall colors, as if the Salt Marsh is yelling, “Hey, look at me!”

2: Early mornings, watching the fog lift. Seeing the reflections of the trees on the water become defined and how the golden grasses illuminate as the sun rises. Cozy throws, sweaters, morning coffee and the firetable keep us warm.

3: Morning turns to bright blue skies and balmy days-our Hyde Lux parasol from Cane-line has been instrumental in creating a vibe and keeping us cool in the afternoon.

4: Spending time with friends, whether it’s morning coffee, afternoon tea or a glass of wine at golden hour.

5: For me, it’s “Van Morrison season.” I’m enjoying the last of these outdoor days listening to my favorite October music. He just hits right this time of year.
